Orientation to Nursing in Canada for Internationally Educated Nurses
Orientation to Nursing in Canada for Internationally Educated Nurses is an applied certificate program. It helps internationally educated nurses (IENs) make the transition to nursing in Saskatchewan and Canada. You will gain a better understanding of the Canadian health care system, learn how to communicate within the context of nursing in Canada and gain the knowledge and skills required of a nurse working in Canada. The theory and practice included in the program includes:
- learning about the Canadian health care system
- assistance with language issues
- theory related to drug therapy as it relates to Canada
- assessment of your clinical skills to determine the similarities and differences related to techniques and use of equipment in Canada
- a supervised clinical experience
- assistance in preparing to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Exam (CRNE)
The program is delivered through SIAST's Nursing Division and is based at Wascana Campus in Regina. When you complete the entire program, an additional course, National Exam Preparation, will be available through Nursing continuing education. This course will help you prepare to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE)
Length: Equivalent to 8 months of full-time study
Cost: $14,000
